Kuube smart benches bring together sustainable design, renewable energy and digital services to make the smart city concept part of everyday public spaces. The Hype&Hyper feature highlights how the benches allow users to charge their phones and access free internet while providing useful environmental information – all without requiring a connection to the electrical grid.

The solar benches feature USB ports, wireless chargers and a free Wi-Fi hotspot. Integrated sensors monitor air quality, UV levels, humidity and air pressure. Because their energy is supplied by solar panels, the benches can be installed in suitable sunny locations with stable ground and mobile network coverage.

At the time, the range included three models: Kuube ECO, NANO and PLUS, providing seating for three, four and eight people respectively. The covered PLUS creates a sheltered meeting point where users can sit facing each other while being protected from rain and strong sunlight. Durable materials including aluminium, tempered safety glass and ash wood were selected to support long-term outdoor use.
