metaCCAze – 2026. 05.

Miskolc has launched a new multimodal passenger hub at Tapolca junction as part of the EU-funded metaCCAZE project. The development aims to make transfers between public transport and micromobility easier, supporting first- and last-mile connections by bicycle and e-scooter while providing passengers with useful digital services.

One of the first visible elements of the project is a Kuube smart bench. The solar-powered bench provides free Wi-Fi as well as wireless and USB-C fast charging for mobile devices. Its integrated display shows real-time environmental information, including temperature, air quality, humidity, air pressure and UV levels. After dark, integrated lighting contributes to both safety and the appearance of the public space.

The wider micromobility point combines urban furniture, bicycle storage, charging, digital passenger information and environmental monitoring. Future developments will further integrate bicycles and e-scooters into Miskolc’s transport network, while connection with the MobilON journey planner will expand the digital services available to travellers.

The project demonstrates how smart city infrastructure, sustainable mobility and solar energy can work together to make everyday urban travel more convenient and encourage a shift from private cars towards public transport and micromobility.
